The basic strategy was application of the Metacognition and Learning Strategies Program in the teaching task at Mariana University in Pasto in 2009. The intention is to share the effect of the program application with Nursing and Social Work students, as Experimental Groups in terms of improvements in learning and academic performance. The study was boosted by the methodological design binding quantitative and qualitative paradigms. The mathematic-probabilistic study tested the hypothesis: The Experimental Groups have a better academic performance than the Control Groups. We propose that neither the student’s psychological profile nor career had an influence on academic performance. We conclude application of the Pedagogic-Disciplinal Program under the same inclusion criteria and contexts produced the same results in different knowledge areas Classification-JEL: I2 Keywords: Educational Research, Educational Strategies, Metacognition Journal: Revista Global de Negocios Pages: 1-17 Volume:1 Issue:2 Year: 2013 File-URL: http://www.theibfr2.com/RePEc/ibf/rgnego/rgn-v1n2-2013/RGN-V1N2-2013-1.pdf File-Format: Application/pdf Handle: RePEc:ibf:rgnego:v:1:y:2013:i:2:p:1-17 Template-Type: ReDIF-Article 1.0 Author-Name: Jaime Apolinar Martinez Arroyo Author-Name: Irma Cristina Espitia Moreno Author-Name: Marco Alberto Valenzo Jimenez Title: COMPETITIVENESS, VALUE CHAIN AND SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH COMPETITIVIDAD, CADENA DE VALOR E INVESTIGACION CIENTIFICA Abstract: This article discusses the importance of the sources of competitive advantage by cost or differentiation in the avocado value chain of exporting companies located in Uruapan, Michoacán. The analysis is made by assessing the impact of independent variables, dimensions and indicators on the dependent variable. This approach allows us to know or show the source of competitive advantage. That is, to observe the totally competitive advantage, you must know what activity the advantage derives from. Also, shown is the value chain, which is formed by the following agents or links: nurserymen, growers, packers and shippers. The results show the packers link with the best performance in variable cost and differentiation. The objective is to provide company management suggestions for change, strengthening and improving the organizational climate. The sample consists of 33 workers who were administered a structured questionnaire, Likert-type scale, consisting of 40 reagents for 10 variables. The reliability of the instrument was Cronbach’s alpha test, yielding a coefficient of internal consistency of 0.89. The statistical analysis was to calculate frequencies, means and obtain Pearson correlations coefficients. We find that coworkers hygiene factor is the most related to satisfaction, while the predominant motivating factors are the content- meaning of work, and recognition from the supervisor and peers. We analyze how findings can be explained by using the Uppsala Internationalization model, the network model of internationalization and the international new venture theory. The results show, none of these theories alone adequately explains the internationalization behavior of small and medium-sized software firms. Findings show the internationalization process of these firms is an accelerated version of the stage model perspective, driven and facilitated by the network relationship. Meanwhile its behavior was opportunity seeking. This behavior and network relationship influences entry mode and market selection. The United Nations Framework Convention for Climate Change through the Kyoto Protocol (KP) is a key part of this effort as it encouraged the creation of market mechanisms by creating special financial instruments that spawned carbon markets. In the last years these assets have sharply decreased in value, to the point of endangering new projects. This paper analyzes if the decrease in value of these instruments is a consequence of the general recession of the world economy. It will also attempt to encourage the idea of generating wealth through clean, environmentally friendly processes. We found that it’s not possible to verify the given hypothesis because the global crisis has not seriously damaged the productive system of the KP participating members, who even increased their outputs while using cleaner technologies. The investigation is descriptive, under a quantitative approach. The results show the costs of desertion in the University of La Guajira are a relevant indicator to the extent that it reflects the degree of efficiency of its institutional policies. However, the estimation of monetary costs and rates of desertion, present differences according to the population and analyzed periods. These differences are: greater desertion rate and costs, as much in the main campus as in the extension, in the second academic period of the 2010. In this period range the desertion rate oscillated between 12, 88% and 27, 29%, reaching a high cost according to related academic programs in these ranges. The highest tendency for greater desertion rates and costs are in programs offered in Fonseca and Villanueva. The most relevant factors for these tendencies are: low academic achievement, the lack of professional direction and scarce institutional support. These are structure, rewards, relationships and identity. We specifically examine the area of production of forest common land in El Brillante, Durango, Mexico in 2012. We surveyed 70 workers in the production area. The measuring instrument assessed four dimensions on the Likert scale. The Cronbach Alpha coefficient was determined with a 0.935 reliability. Dimensions were identified according to the staff evaluation of the organization. The results lead us to conclude that in the structure dimension, the staff agrees with the organizational common land structure. As for the reward dimension, it was identified that the common land has contributed positively in their motivation and provides the necessary training for the development of their work. For the relationship dimension it was observed that they are in harmony and have clear, precise and fluid communication. In the identity dimension, the staff feels as an important part that contributes to the achievement of common land goals and they enjoy working within it. JUAREZ, CHIH. MEXICO AS A COMPETITIVE STRATEGY EL PROCESO DE CERTIFICACIÓN DE GESTION DE CALIDAD EN LAS PYMES DE LA REGION FRONTERIZA DE CD. JUAREZ, CHIH. MEXICO COMO ESTRATEGIA COMPETITIVA Abstract: Good performance of quality management systems in enterprises is a key factor in the international and domestic market competitiveness. This paper analyzes small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in the local supply industry. We perform a search of competitiveness strategies present within the branch of SME's in the literature together with the application of a questionnaire that examines factors that manufacturing companies consider critical to the competitiveness of suppliers. The research shows that local manufacturing companies consider it important for their suppliers to have certification of quality management systems. It is viewed as a competitive advantage and increases the degree to which they are eligible to become a part of their supply chain. We propose a business strategy that generates higher performance for SME's to fulfill critical requirements of quality required by manufacturing companies.
