We examine how where they are located affects the economic growth at the regional level in the state of Guanajuato, Mexico. Methodologically, this research analyzes information provided by the INEGI database of the Directory of National Statistics of Economic Units (DENUE) 2012. This directory contains a universe of 211,985 companies distributed in 45 municipalities within the State. It also includes an empirical investigation based on a survey of 217 MSMES randomly applied in various regions of the state of Guanajuato. Subsequently, the SPSS statistical software was used to analyze the specific characteristics of the enterprises and the region. The results point towards large differences with regard to geographical aspects, population, economic and financial services among the regions were the MSMES are distributed. The central region – which includes two-thirds of the population and 70 per cent of economic activity in the State of Guanajuato - presents the best geographical conditions, with flat areas and an efficient network of road infrastructure. Conversely, the regions of the north and south of the State present great geographical contrasts, with small populations, limitations in their infrastructure and lower economic growth. The above differences are attributed to population and economic characteristics and the availability of regional financial institutions. We identified how these regional causes can affect the growth and continuity of MSMES in the state of Guanajuato Classification-JEL: M2, M10 Keywords: Growth Effects of Regional Distribution, Industry, SMEs Journal:Revista Global de Negocios Pages: 1-18 Volume: 4 Issue: 2 Year: 2016 File-URL: http://www.theibfr2.com/RePEc/ibf/rgnego/rgn-v4n2-2016/RGN-V4N2-2016-1.pdf File-Format: Application/pdf Handle: RePEc:ibf:rgnego:v:4:y:2016:i:2:p:1-18 Template-Type: ReDIF-Article 1.0 Author-Name: Roman Alberto Quijano Garcia Author-Name: Luis Alfredo Arguelles Ma Author-Name: Deneb Eli Magana Medina Author-Name: Fidel Ramon Alcocer Martinez Title: STRATEGIES DESIGN AND FINANCING IN FAMILY BUSINESSES OF THE DEEP-WATER SHRIMP SECTOR IN CAMPECHE, MEXICO, DISEÑO DE ESTRATEGIAS Y FINANCIAMIENTO EN EMPRESAS FAMILIARES DEL SECTOR CAMARONERO DE ALTURA DE CAMPECHE, MEXICO Abstract: Due to economic crisis and globalization, family businesses must develop a strategic plan that allows them to remain in the market, achieve their objectives and make them capable to integrate into a business world in constant evolution. Because of their operations’ complexity, is not possible to establish a standard formula to evaluate the factors that intervene in their daily life such as long-term strategy design, power structure, and the construction of their own organizational culture. This research’s main objective is to identify the development and implementation of strategies to remain in the market. We examine way they are projected and how they get funding despite current financial problems. The research is descriptive with non-experimental transversal design. Data was collected at one time in its natural context, through interviews with family business leaders. The results indicate a reduced number of strategies to remain in the market and problems to fund for short-term activities Classification-JEL: M1, M19 Keywords: Business Strategy, Leadership, Planning Journal:Revista Global de Negocios Pages: 19-32 Volume: 4 Issue: 2 Year: 2016 File-URL: http://www.theibfr2.com/RePEc/ibf/rgnego/rgn-v4n2-2016/RGN-V4N2-2016-2.pdf File-Format: Application/pdf Handle: RePEc:ibf:rgnego:v:4:y:2016:i:2:p:19-32 Template-Type: ReDIF-Article 1.0 Author-Name: Maria del Carmen Vasquez Torres Author-Name: Teodoro Rafael Wendlandt Amezaga Author-Name: Maria Elvira Lopez Parra Title: THE ADMINISTRATIVE FORMALIZATION OF THE SMALL AND MEDIUM-SIZED ENTERPRISE OF THE FOOD INDUSTRY FROM CIUDAD OBREGÓN, SONORA, MEXICO, LA FORMALIZACION ADMINISTRATIVA DE LA PEQUENA Y MEDIANA EMPRESA INDUSTRIAL ALIMENTARIA DE CIUDAD OBREGON, SONORA,MEXICO Abstract: The purpose of the present study was to determine the level of formalization for each element of the administrative process of small and medium-sized enterprise (SMEs). We specifically examine the food industry from Ciudad Obregon, Sonora, Mexico. We take as reference a total population of 60 companies of this sector. From this population we obtained a total sample of 52 local companies, of which 40 participated in the study (66.7%). In addition, a measurement instrument with Likert-type questions was administered to assess the elements of the administrative process (Cronbach Alfa = .880). The obtained results showed that the local SMEs of this sector do not have a formalized administrative process. This absence provides the opportunity for intervention programs and future studies of explanatory scope for deepening and understanding this type of organization Classification-JEL: L20, M10, M13, R11 Keywords: Small and Medium Enterprise, Formalization and Administrative Process Journal:Revista Global de Negocios Pages: 33-44 Volume: 4 Issue: 2 Year: 2016 File-URL: http://www.theibfr2.com/RePEc/ibf/rgnego/rgn-v4n2-2016/RGN-V4N2-2016-3.pdf File-Format: Application/pdf Handle: RePEc:ibf:rgnego:v:4:y:2016:i:2:p:33-44 Template-Type: ReDIF-Article 1.0 Author-Name: Patricia Rivera Espinoza Author-Name: Ezequiel Ramirez Lira Author-Name: Enrique Roberto Azpeitia Torres Title: MANAGEMENT AND GOVERNING SYSTEMS OF FAMILY BUSINESS FROM SOUTH OF JALISCO, MEXICO, DIRECCION Y ORGANOS DE GOBIERNO DE LA EMPRESA FAMILIAR DEL SUR DE JALISCO, MEXICO Abstract: The objective of this paper was to analyze the conditions in which family businesses from south of Jalisco, Mexico, process their administration and governing systems. This is non-experimental and descriptive research, based on a cross technique (Hernández et al. 2006), and nonprobability and convenience sampling. In 70% out of the businesses, the main shareholder usually acts as general manager. The dominant generation is the first generation, which is in charge of the company, 83% don´t have a board of directors. When it comes to a company succession 91% of the businesses note that the founder and main shareholder, as soon as he should die, wishes that in the future such company should be part of the same family. We conclude that family businesses from south of Jalisco generally do not have a directive board of professionals, since the owners themselves take the responsibilities for all decisions regarding the business development. These businesses are the family’s support. Very few have a formal administration board, which can be relied upon for business development Classification-JEL: M10, M12, M14, M21 Keywords: Governing Systems, Family Businesses, South of Jalisco Journal:Revista Global de Negocios Pages: 45-56 Volume: 4 Issue: 2 Year: 2016 File-URL: http://www.theibfr2.com/RePEc/ibf/rgnego/rgn-v4n2-2016/RGN-V4N2-2016-4.pdf File-Format: Application/pdf Handle: RePEc:ibf:rgnego:v:4:y:2016:i:2:p:45-56 Template-Type: ReDIF-Article 1.0 Author-Name: Aida Dinorah Garcia Alvarez Author-Name: Debora Dominguez Perez Author-Name: Gina Laura Maria de Lourdes Baena Paz Author-Name: Raquel Lopez Garcia Title: THE ETHICAL COMPONENT AND PROFESSIONAL PERFORMANCE: A DESCRIPTIVE UNIVERSITY STUDY IN THEIR FINAL STAGE GRADUATION, EL COMPONENTE ETICO Y ACTUACION PROFESIONAL: UN ESTUDIO EN ESTUDIANTES UNIVERSITARIOS EN SU ETAPA FINAL DE EGRESO Abstract: This paper presents results of research conducted in a university. The purpose of this research is to obtain up-to-date and reliable information that supports the institution’s field of study and to make informed and efficient decisions regarding the restructuring of its curricula. This explanatory research is quantitative in nature. Labor competitiveness and pedagogical mediation are conceptualized. Pedagogical mediation is analyzed as an independent variable and labor competitiveness is analyzed as a dependent variable. A documentary research among different employment agencies is carried out to determine the indicators of competitiveness for each academic program. A survey is conducted among senior students, that were registered during the first 2015 academic term in Bachelor of Accounting, Bachelor of Business Administration, Bachelor of Computer Sciences, Bachelor of International Businesses, Bachelor of Marketing, and Bachelor of Tourism Management. The results obtained allow us to understand perceptions of students towards the pedagogical mediation done by their professors, and if this meant a contributing factor in their labor competitiveness. Place refers to formal and informal distribution channels. In Colombia, the informal distribution channel, represented by neighborhood stores, is still in force for the purchase of goods for home consumption. These stores have survived despite the growth and expansion of large supermarket chains. This research focused on identifying the factors that influence the decision to buy at the neighborhood store or supermarket. The study was conducted n the city of Cali- Colombia, under a mixed approach including qualitative and quantitative elements. The results allowed us to identify the following relevant variables that motivate consumers to buy in neighborhood stores. Proximity, short presentations of products and the purchase option per unit. The variables for purchase in supermarkets were promotions, product variety and the option for getting everything in one place. The cultural component is highly relevant to the decision to purchase in the neighborhood stores. Consumers have different motivations for shopping at both places, and these support the reasons why both channels coexist in the market of goods Classification-JEL: M3, M20, M31 Keywords: Commercial Attraction, Retailing, Shopping Behavior, Purchase Decision, Retail Channels Journal:Revista Global de Negocios Pages: 97-107 Volume: 4 Issue: 2 Year: 2016 File-URL: http://www.theibfr2.com/RePEc/ibf/rgnego/rgn-v4n2-2016/RGN-V4N2-2016-8.pdf File-Format: Application/pdf Handle: RePEc:ibf:rgnego:v:4:y:2016:i:2:p:97-107
