Title: CHALLENGES FOR FAMILY BUSINESS CONTINUITY TEHUACAN CASE STUDY, LOS RETOS DE LAS EMPRESAS FAMILIARES ANTE SU CONTINUIDAD: CASO TEHUACAN Abstract: Family business is a vital force in the global economy. Nevertheless, the challenge of balancing family interests and business goals may help explain the high mortality rate of family businesses. When family members work together, emotions may interfere with business decisions. A serious problem faced by family businesses in Mexico is the lack of formality within family business. Therefore, it is critical to formalize or professionalize the family business and meet the differing goals of the two different, but interrelated domains, family and business. The inquiry was supported in a documentary and field research. The survey sample covers 342 family businesses in manufacturing, trade and services in Tehuacan city. This is the first statistical study of family businesses in Tehuacan. The aim of this paper is to analyze the relationship between the construct professionalization and constructs such as performance, family harmony, effective communication and obstacles to professionalizing the family business. A statistical model is proposed to explain the relationship among constructs and variables. This study also highlighted the importance of the variable-academic education, as main variable of the construct professionalization. The present study aims to determine the factors that influence as a competitive professionalization of family businesses in the industrial sector of Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico, considering that the founders of family businesses are often people who have a high commitment and experience, but leave out the professionalization of management, regardless of whether their survival may depend on this factor. To determine the factors of professionalization we surveyed 117 family business owners who are registered with the Sistema de Informacion Empresarial Mexicano (SIEM) 2010 of Tijuana. We performed statistical analysis of data through SPSS 15.0 system, achieving as a result a scheme that shows the most important factors that directly affect the professionalization as a competitive factor. However, it must be subject to parameters of fairness which guarantee that children receive, from both parents, the resources needed for their support based on principles of proportionality, need, economic ability and reasonableness. This analysis reveals the Puerto Rico child support regime leads to the imposition of child support awards that overestimate, in most cases, the non-custodial parents’ responsibility for child rearing expenses thereby violating basic equity principles. This finding is based on a comparative evaluation of awards in state jurisdictions within the United States of America. We review the history of migration. We found that international migration and the remittances generated by these people to their home country are the main political issues. This is based on the results of a crosssectional econometric model implemented on a sample of 32 entities of the Mexican Republic. We use variables GDP, remittances, average schooling and unemployment population. Assessing the impact of international migration on economic growth through remittances, we found that money shipment doesn’t increase the country´s economic growth. However, these remittances that migrants send to their country of origin serve as a palliative for local poverty, not as a solution to the national problem. There is a need for an interpretation of the interactions, which is not reflected in the national surveys or regional surveys. The objective of this paper is to describe the characteristics of the innovation’s interactive process at an organizational and regional level in Coahuila, Mexico. The methodology involves two stages: Analysis of previous diagnostics of regional innovation; and an empiric study oriented to interactions, through interviews with managers of 20 medium-sized industrial manufacturer enterprises. The results affirm the companies, even though they lack research and innovation structures, actually innovate. Different area personnel participate, with a less dynamism and technological practices than expected. In these innovation projects, interactions are oriented to the industrial sector, leaving behind universities and research centers. This study is a first of interaction and technological issues as factors of success in regional innovation. The objective of this study is to develop and validate an instrument that can be used by all users from public university cafeterias to evaluate the quality of the service provided. We study a sample of 297 users, in which the properties were evaluated on a scale of three variables. Logical and content validity was evaluated by a multidisciplinary group of experts. To determine the construct validity an analysis of Varimax rotation with principal components was used. The initial main-components analysis revealed the existence of three variables that explain 63% of the variation. Tests of validity and internal consistency of the scale are satisfactory. The instrument was composed of 19 items which Cronbach's alpha was 0.932. Therefore, we can say that the instrument is valid and useful for assessing the quality of the services of the cafeterias on campus where the research was conducted.
