We wish to identify, through this descriptive research, how the organization manages its human talent, in order to define improvement actions to enable it to perform a truly strategic role. When applying a questionnaire to 25 companies in Valle del Cauca, we discovered, among other findings, that the majority of companies have a formal strategic plan but not one for human management. The role of the human management area remains operational. There is not a culture of attracting and retaining top talent, and therefore, it is necessary for companies to adopt a more holistic view about how to manage talent. EVIDENCE FROM DEVELOPED AND EMERGING STOCK MARKETS DURING PERIODS WITH AND WITHOUT FINANCIAL CRISIS, SMALL VS LARGE CAPS. EVIDENCIA DE MERCADOS ACCIONARIOS DESARROLLADOS Y EMERGENTES EN PERIODOS CON VS SIN CRISIS FINANCIERA Abstract: This paper examines the existence of the size effect in twenty stock markets of developed countries and sixteen stock markets of emerging countries, respectively, during the period of April 2003 to December 2013. The results obtained, using the method of seemingly unrelated regressions, suggest that stock markets of developed countries, small caps portfolios have on average a better performance adjusted for systematic risk either locally or globally in comparison to large caps portfolios during non-crisis periods. This evidence in favor of the size effect, however, does not exist in periods of crisis. On the other hand, stock markets of emerging countries do not present statistically significant differences in the average performance of small versus large caps portfolios during periods with or without financial crisis. This result has important implications in terms of international portfolio diversification discussed at the end of the article. Abstract: In the literature, authors refer to operational capabilities as factors that affect the operating performance of firms, which makes them a potential source for a competitive advantage. Due to the relevance of these capabilities, the present study specifically examines the relationship between operational capabilities of personalization and reconfiguration and operating performance developed by large companies of the manufacturing sector of the central region of the State of Coahuila, Mexico. The methodology consisted of obtaining quantitative information by applying a structured questionnaire to 253 medium/top level workers in five large companies of the manufacturing sector in the region. The data obtained were subsequently processed with statistical software SPSS using the Spearman correlation coefficient and performing a linear regression analysis. Among the most relevant results, is the fact that operational capabilities of mass customization and reconfiguration are associated and explain by operating performance. These elements have been used by local communities and authorities to encourage tourism as an engine of economic growth. This sector has a positive impact at the population level in terms of employment generation and production, and also helps maintain macroeconomic stability. Tourism also generates a sense of vulnerability in those communities that depend largely on the activity where adverse natural phenomena, external economic pressures and internal negative effects reduce tourist arrivals to the country. This paper seeks to determine the possible effects that global warming has on tourism. The results show the volume of rainfall negatively affects the number of tourists arriving in Mexico, while temperature has a positive effect. This means that as the temperature increases from one to three Celsius degrees as estimated for the present century, the growing trend in the arrival of tourists will continue.
